As telephone technology continues to develop, so does telephone headset technology.  The telephone headset is a device that enables many of us to use the telephone on a day to day basis without the stresses and strains of balancing a handset and suffering from unclear communication, and a lack of flexibility.

There are many styles, shapes and makes of telephone  headset that are available for various purposes.  And various different organisations will have different purposes and therefore varying requirements.

For example, a busy call centre or shared service centre with numerous employees using the telephone on a regular basis will benefit from noise cancelling technology to drown out some of the background noise.

Binaural headsets are devices that offer two earpieces rather than one.  Although these devices provide improved communication and noise cancelling solutions, they make it difficult for the users to hear anything that is going on in the surrounding office.  This makes them a less practical and also less popular device for an office environment.

Alternatively Monaural headsets include only one earpiece and are more commonly used in call centres and office environments.  These headsets allow users to hear both their telephone conversation and any instructions or advice given in their office.

There are various types of models available in both types of headset.  And usually the one you choose will depend on your reasons for its use.  Consider these carefully before you purchase.
